By engaging with [Business Name], you (“the Client”) agree to the following terms and conditions governing the personal story writing services provided by [Business Name] (“the Business,” “we,” or “us”). These terms apply to all services provided, including but not limited to the writing, editing, and final presentation of personal stories. Please read these terms carefully before proceeding with any order or request. 

1. Scope of Services

We offer personal story writing services, which include writing, editing, and delivering a written personal story based on the information provided by the Client. The scope of the services includes: 

  • Initial consultation (in person or online) to gather information. 
  • Story development and writing. 
  • Drafting and revising the story as required by the Client (within reasonable limits). 
  • Final editing and delivery of the completed story. 

2. Client’s Responsibilities

To ensure the success of the project, the Client agrees to: 

  • Provide accurate, detailed, and relevant information for the creation of the personal story. This may include family history, personal anecdotes, achievements, and any other material the Client wishes to include. 
  • Respond to communication from [Business Name] in a timely manner to facilitate progress. 
  • Review and approve drafts within reasonable timeframes to avoid delays. 
  • Be respectful and mindful when sharing personal details, understanding that sensitive information is handled with care. 

3. Confidentiality

We take your privacy seriously. All information provided by the Client for the purpose of creating the personal story will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. We will not disclose or share any personal details or the content of the story without the Client’s consent, unless required by law. 

4. Fees and Payment

  • A quote will be provided for the project based on the scope, complexity, and length of the story. 
  • A non-refundable deposit may be required upon agreement to proceed with the project. The deposit will be deducted from the total fee. 
  • Full payment must be made before the final story is delivered to the Client. 
  • Additional fees may apply if the Client requests significant changes to the story or if the project scope changes after the initial agreement. 

5. Project Timeline

The timeline for completing the personal story will depend on the complexity of the project and the Client’s responsiveness. We will provide an estimated delivery date at the start of the project, and every effort will be made to meet that deadline. However, delays caused by the Client’s failure to provide necessary information or feedback may result in extended timelines. 

6. Revisions

  • We offer a reasonable number of revisions during the project to ensure that the final story aligns with the Client’s vision. 
  • Any revisions requested after the story has been completed and delivered may incur additional charges. 
  • If significant changes to the story are requested after the final approval, we reserve the right to charge additional fees for the extra work. 

7. Ownership and Copyright

  • Upon full payment, the Client will own the rights to the final personal story. 
  • [Business Name] retains the right to use excerpts of the story (with the Client’s permission) for promotional purposes, such as portfolio showcases or website features. 
  • The Client may not claim the story as the work of another or distribute it in a way that infringes on copyright. 

8. Ethical Considerations

We respect the sensitive nature of personal stories and will work collaboratively with the Client to ensure that all content is handled with dignity and respect. However, the following must be considered: 

  • The Client must ensure they have permission to share any third-party information (e.g., stories about other individuals or private matters). 
  • The Business is not responsible for any legal implications arising from the sharing or publication of content that violates confidentiality or privacy rights. 

9. Cancellation and Refunds

  • The Client may cancel the project at any time; however, any work completed up to that point will be charged for, and the deposit is non-refundable. 
  • If, for any reason, the Business is unable to complete the project, the Client will be refunded any amounts paid for work that has not been completed. 

10. Limitation of Liability

[Business Name] is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the personal story writing services. Our liability is limited to the total amount paid by the Client for the services rendered. We will not be held responsible for any issues arising from the Client’s use of the final product, including legal, emotional, or personal consequences. 

11. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute, the Client and the Business will attempt to resolve the issue amicably through communication. If an agreement cannot be reached, both parties agree to seek mediation before taking legal action. 

12. Changes to Terms and Conditions

13. Governing Law
